Presentation of the IX edition of Ruta O Cabaleiro das Cunchas
This morning, first the Maritime School of Bouzas and a little later Boiro, hosted the presentation of the IX edition of the O Maritime Route Cabaleiro das Cunchas, organized by the Friends of the Maritime Route Association of the Apostle Santiago to Galicia.
The event was led by Javier Grande, president of the association, who stressed the importance of this edition due to the fact that it is longer than the previous ones, including new ports on the Portuguese coast, such as Aveiro.
With a total of almost 20 boats, the Route O Cabaleiro das Cunchas will be marked by a demanding navigation, which will even reach 12 hours of navigation.
On the other hand, other invited guests talked about the importance of the Route due to the fact of linking three important elements, such as the xacobea tradition, the maritime pilgrimages - famous point of the pilgrimage modalities-, and, above all, for its continuity -as it is nine years now that the Association has been building the project that is constantly growing.
The president of the Port of Vigo stressed the fact that for the city this type of initiatives are essential, especially in the aspects that bring the population closer to the sea, making Vigo a place close to the sea.
Next Friday, August 3, the sailboats of the Route will set sail for Póvoa de Varzim to start a beautiful journey that is already considered the nautical event of the summer.
